Transitioning from a professional job to running a business is quite a journey. As someone who supports exceptional people and small business owners navigating change and crisis, I understand how daunting yet rewarding this path can be.
Almost a year ago, I left my role as a Partner in a law firm to fully immerse myself in my coaching business, which I had been nurturing on the side for three years. This year also marks a decade since the passing of my father, a pivotal figure in my life, making this a poignant time of reflection for me.
Stepping into entrepreneurship has been liberating. I feel truly free, in control of my time and how I spend it. My days are not dictated by a 9-to-5 schedule; instead, I structure my business around my life, like walking my German Shepherd when it suits me.
Working solo has its challenges, particularly the lack of immediate feedback. However, with regular check-ins with my Coach, I stay on course. The multi-faceted role of running a business has taught me to wear many hats—from administrative tasks to IT, marketing, and finance. Over time, I’ve mastered scheduling, social media, and the intricacies of various digital tools.
The transformation from a meticulous lawyer to a creative entrepreneur has been profound. I cherish the direct impact I have on my clients, witnessing their ‘aha’ moments. My legal background in people management and client care serves me well in my new role.
Reflecting on this journey, I am grateful for the support from everyone, especially my clients. My business is rooted in a mission to empower individuals in crisis, helping them find their way forward with confidence and joy.
To those contemplating a similar shift, know that while it’s not always smooth sailing, the waves are worth riding. The fulfilment of receiving heartfelt thanks from clients makes every challenge worthwhile.
My father’s legacy guides me, and I am dedicated to helping exceptional people move from overwhelm to joy. If you seek guidance, reach out. Together, we can navigate the tides and achieve true fulfilment.
